Since you’re here, I have a funny feeling that it is.
After all, you probably found this page because you’ve got a golden nugget of a business idea that’s just dying to come out.
And you’ve probably also got the two essential ingredients for creating a profitable online business: passion and spunk.
But there’s just one teensy little problem:
You don’t know quite where to begin.
That really great idea of your keeps getting jammed up by all the other important stuff: business plans, emails, web design (hosting …what’s hosting??).
You just wanted to focus on what you’re good at, not on all that other stuff! And before you know it you’re not doing anything you love at all because you’re just too busy chasing down all the other things.
DUDE. I TOTALLY GET IT.
Because I’ve been there.
I’m Jenn – a copywriter, brand strategist + creator of Solopreneur Babes.
I do a whole buncha things ’round here, including branding, design and copywriting.
But my passion is to empower you future Solopreneur Babes to bring your own business dreams to life.
I want liberate you from your day job.
There’s a growing number of solopreneurs in the world today. That’s because the good ol’ World Wide Web has made it way easier for us small businesses to thrive.
Which is pretty cool! Think about it: we don’t have to stand around and wait to be selected by the company of our dreams anymore.
We can just go out there and make cool things happen all by ourselves.
But despite all that awesome-ness, being a solopreneur comes with its own unique set of challenges.
Suddenly you’re doing the work of a whole team of people: sales person, copywriter, graphic designer, marketing manager, branding expert, business advisor plus whatever it is that you actually want to do.
But fear not Solopreneur Babe! I’ve got your back. I’m here to help you slay those business demons.
I’ve been blogging online in one form or another for a whopping fifteen years. And I’m proud to say I’m one of the few that got to turn my one-time hobby into an actual career.
That’s right: I went from hobby design blogger to internet marketing professional.
But I’m not gonna lie: there was a huuuuge learning curve along the way. (SEO what?) Sometimes it was really tough but I managed to figure it all out. I eventually learned how to pull my grab bag of skills together in a professional way, creating copy that connects, graphics that grab and ads that attract. It was like my very own two-year business boot camp!
While most of the people I worked with were great, my startup working experience was not that great. It was disheartening to watch our office shrink as they slowly outsourced jobs to India. It was extremely stressful working with chauvinistic co-workers who’s behavior bordered on stalking. It was depressing for my entire department to be categorically refused annual raises, while the CEO’s wife would parade in with a new Chanel handbag.
I didn’t want my earnings to be at the mercy of one (stingy) person. And I didn’t want to constantly worry about whether my position would be made redundant.
I wanted to use my new skill-set to help people. I wanted to make new cool things.
And, most of all, I wanted to take charge of my own financial future.
(Because no one was going to do it for me!)
Sitting there, at my tiny desk in my “work pod”, day in and day out, I couldn’t stop dreaming about bigger better things in far away places.
I wanted happiness. I wanted adventure. And I craved independence.
So I made The Big Leap. I sold my apartment, ditched the job and hopped on a plane to live in Europe – just me and my cats.
TL;DR: I’ve got a lot of knowledge about the tech-y side of things and I want to share it with my fellow passionate entrepreneurs.
Here’s the thing: I know you can do it. Because I did it. (And I definitely I don’t possess some secret superpower!)
It takes a little chutzpah and some business-y know-how but it’s far from impossible to break out of your cubicle!
It’s time to go for those dreams, dontcha think?
So come along and join me for this grand adventure?
Your only regret will be not starting sooner.
- I have two passports and two cats. As you can see, I think traveling is pretty freakin’ dope. (If you’ve got spare room in your suitcase, I want to explore Russia, Croatia, and Egypt next.)
- I gave up eating red meat at 15, which was a totally weird move coming from a family of meat-eaters. (These days being veggie is no big thang!)
- I moved to Germany sort of on a whim — without knowing a word of German. Guten tag!
- This one time I visited the Apple Campus in Cupertino. I got a smoothie at the juice bar just because I knew that’s what Steve Jobs did every day.
- I’ve volunteered at a psych ward, did a stint as an archaeologist and flipped properties for a living.
- I’ve feed raccoons from my hand and found bears in my backyard. (#canada)
- I hate the word “digital nomad” even though that’s exactly what I am. (Don’t worry! I’ll get over it.)
